Spring?

Now you are probably wondering why I wrote Spring?, well it't because while it was really nice all last week (almost capri weather), it is now back to being cold. I really hope that all of the flowers and buds on the trees don't die. I noticed these flowers on my walk home yesterday, and thought I would share.
I am really hoping that the cold weather goes away soon, because all of the colors that I have been using have been more summer colors, and I want to keep it that way. Easter break is in about a week, so I will have more time to blog and make jewelry. Hopefully I will be able to post some pictures too (I know I have been saying that for awhile, but I really want the pictures to come out nice, so it takes really good lighting)

Spring Break

I am currently on Spring Break from classes (woohoo!) and I am home making lots of jewelry. I just updated my display at the Jewel Box of Cape Cod with some new jewelry that I have made recently.
The other day my mom and I went to the beach for a little while to get some rocks for some projects, and I had my camera with me so I took some pictures because it was such a nice afternoon. Now you may be asking, how are you going to use rocks in your jewelry? Well, I am, but I'm not. I am using some for displays, and the others are for a project that I found on Pinterest that I loved. I am addicted to Pinterest and I pin frequently. If you have not gone on Pinterest yet, I am warning you that it is very addicting, but so fun!

Hopefully I can get some pictures of some of the jewelry I have made posted soon. So stay tuned for that :)

Summer Update

Yes, I realize it is still winter, but I am a planner, so now I am planning for the summer. Today I got my application for Art on the Green at the Pinehills, if accepted this will be my 4th year doing the show. As soon as I know that I have been accepted, I will definitely do a blog post with more information.

And speaking of summer, the Belize trip that I was going to go on was cancelled due to safety reasons, but don't fret, there is another trip that is running at the same time, and that trip is going to Ireland! While I am disappointed that I can't go to Belize, I still think I will have a lot of fun in Ireland. The Pinehills show (if accepted) would be a week after I get back from Ireland. Hopefully I won't be too exhausted!

In creative news I am taking a ceramics class this semester as part of my core classes, and it's going pretty well. We have to keep a sketchbook for our ideas/inspiration, which is not a problem for me because I love keeping sketchbooks. As soon as I have a finished piece I will share pictures. The first piece I did still needs to get fired and glazed, so hopefully within the next two weeks I will have a picture of it.

Last Best Craft Fair 2011 & Holiday Open House

This year I was much smarter and did not stay up until 4am the night before making more jewelry. The reason being, I was not feeling well. This weekend was a blur for me, thankfully it well pretty well.

This was my second year doing the Last Best Craft Fair, and I definitely want to do it again in the future. I improved on sales from last year (which I was very thankful for), however I did have a piece of jewelry stolen. Having something stolen is never fun, but being there while someone did it and not noticing it, is much worse. I was pretty upset about it, but I understand there was nothing I can do about it so I just had to pick my head up and move on. I needed to be there for my customers. I would just like to say thank you to everyone from the show for all of their kind words, it really meant a lot to me. I also want to thank my mom for helping me during the show. I don't know what I would have done without my wrapper :)
Here are some pictures :)

Right after finishing the Last Best Craft Fair, my mom and I packed up the car again to go set up for the Holiday Open House at my co-worker and good friend's house. We brought all of my stuff from the show in the house, then went back home to get my mom's jewelry. After bringing all of her stuff in as well I was exhausted. I kept trying to wake myself up and try to find energy again, but I just couldn't. Again, I am very thankful for my mom because she finished setting up all of my jewelry.
The next day was the show, and I thought it went really well. There is always things to improve on, and I personally wish I promoted it more, such as on here or on Facebook. I was feeling better, and was able to function enough to be able to do the check out.

Here are some of the quick pictures I took of everyone's displays. I wish I had a picture of the three of us together!

My display :)

Part of my mom's display. Here is a link to her blog: http://treasures-trinkets.blogspot.com/

And finally we have my friend, Joslyn's, display. She did put earrings on the empty display, but it was after I took the pictures. You can check out her work on Etsy, She will be posting more jewelry soon.

All of our jewelry is available at the Jewel Box of Cape Cod in Sandwich MA :)

Starting the new year off right

With a blog post! I know I have been very absent lately, but no more excuses (school, work, life in general), I will be blogging more. I was very fortunate to have a very good Christmas season for my jewelry sales (thank you!), and I want to make sure that I am working hard to keep that up.

Things that I need to update you on:
-the Last Best Craft Fair
-Open House

Both of those will have separate posts for each of them, or maybe one since that weekend was kind of a blur for me. Not fun getting sick for shows, and school the week before finals.

Oh and a fun fact that I am excited to share. I will be going to Belize for two weeks at the end of May for school. I am very excited to get the opportunity to help the people in Belize get help medically. For those who do not know, I am going to school to be a nurse, and going to Belize will fill my service learning credits for school. I am busy saving money to pay for the trip, so any jewelry that I sell will be going towards that. So basically, not only does someone get a piece of jewelry, it gives me the opportunity to give back to people that are not as fortunate.

Until next time (which will be soon! I mean it this time)..

Updates..yes I realize it has been awhile..

I realize that I have been severely neglecting my blog lately. I have been busy making jewelry, and also just life (school work etc) in general. Since the last time I posted I started my junior year of college, and turned 21. (finally!)

As far as anything jewelry goes. In August I set up a table (a very full one at that) at a golf tournament to benefit the scholarship fund in the honor of a family friend who passed away last November. It was great to be able to participate and contribute to the scholarship. My mom also had her jewelry for sale right next to me. We both did well considering we weren’t there to make money, but more so to support a really great family and cause.

In future news, I was accepted to the Last Best Craft Fair for the second time. The show is Saturday December 3rd. Specific details to follow in another blog post.
The next day, December 4th, my mom and I will both be showing our jewelry at our friends house (who also will be showing her jewelry). Again, more specifics will follow.

Needless to say that will be a very busy weekend for me, so I have been busy preparing for both. And thankfully silver went down, so I was able to buy more silver to make more pieces.

I am going to post pictures of some new pieces, but since I have not taken them yet, pictures of roses will have to do :)

New Idea :)

Ok...so maybe it's not super new, people have been imprinting leaves into metal using a rolling mill for awhile, but the other night I was curious to see if dried hydrangea flowers would work the same. It did! My first try came out pretty well, and I am definitely going to try it some more. I am going to do lots of test runs in copper and brass, and then I am definitely going to try it on silver too. That is how much I like it so far.

Stay tuned!

Side note: I am loving the weather lately. Lots of sun!
